A Heritage of Craftsmanship
Founded in 1861 in the small Czech town of Bystřice pod Hostýnem, TON is one of the oldest furniture manufacturers in the world. The brand began when Michael Thonet—renowned for pioneering the bentwood furniture technique—set up a workshop in the region for its ideal access to beechwood forests and skilled local craftsmen. Today, TON continues this tradition, producing handcrafted bentwood and contemporary wood furniture using the same steam-bending techniques that made Thonet’s designs revolutionary.
The TON factory is still located in the very same town, and their commitment to legacy, sustainability, and thoughtful design has only deepened over time. Every piece is shaped by hand, combining time-honored processes with innovations in design and ergonomics. The result is furniture that is not only beautiful and functional but rich with story and substance.
