Maria is the Founder & Principal Designer of La Storia Design Company. She has nearly 2 decades of design experience, helping breathe a story into a multitude of environments. She has 17 years of experience in higher education, inspiring our future designers. Maria holds a BA from Penn State University, an MFA in Interior Design from the George Washington University, and a Masters of Architecture from Arizona State University.Maria loves spending time with her family, staying active (especially running), and being outdoors. She loves travel and finding beauty in the world around us.

La Storia Design Company was started with a passion for thoughtful, sustainable, and unique design. The story of the environments we live, work, sleep, eat and entertain in are also the story of all of us, the story of our lives. We started this company to tell your story through individualized design services, as well as tell the story of artisans across the world by bringing their products to you in our shop.
Our Team
Tia is the Co-Founder & Vice President of Operations atLa Storia Design Company. She has a background in engineering, has an exquisite sense of design, and a beautiful aesthetic. In this key leadership role, Tia is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations and playing a vital role in the strategic direction of the business.Tia loves traveling and exploring different cultures, as well as running with her favorite running buddy, Maria. And although Tia’s heart is still in Canada, she has quickly grown roots in Pittsburgh.
Sophie brings a refined eye for design and boundless creativity to our team as a Design Associate. With a BFA in Interior Architecture from La Roche University, she combines technical expertise with an intuitive understanding of space and aesthetics. Her infectious enthusiasm and collaborative spirit make every project better.
Annie is a Retail Associate at La Storia Design Company, where she brings a passion for storytelling and meaningful client connections to the showroom. Drawn in by the beauty of the storefront, she connected with founder Maria and quickly became an integral part of the team. Annie enjoys engaging with clients, learning about their homes, and helping bring their vision to life.
She studied creative writing at Miami University and design at Florence University of the Arts, experiences that continue to shape her appreciation for global interiors and thoughtful design. Surrounded by a collaborative and creative team, Annie is constantly inspired by both her colleagues and the stories behind each project.
Alisa recently joined La Storia Design Company as a Retail Associate, bringing years of retail management expertise to our team. A Pittsburgh native returning home, Alisa is passionate about creating meaningful customer experiences. Outside of work, she treasures time spent with her family, friends, and beloved dog. Alisa also enjoys cooking, gardening & traveling.
